We have just completed our first week of instruction at Whitman Elementary in Pontiac MI. We are working with 10 girls, ages 7-9 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Our primary focus is on literacy so they can improve their reading and writing scores on the MichiganEducational Assessment Program (MEAP), which dictates whether the school is considered as making Adequate Yearly Progress, which in turn affects funding.
